Overview

A spinal cord stimulator (SCS) is a medical device used to manage chronic pain. It works by sending electrical impulses to the spinal cord, which disrupt or mask the pain signals traveling to the brain.
Currently all SCS devices in GGC are from Medtronic. However, not all of them are MR conditional, so their eligibility must be discussed with the pain management team. Please contact MRI physics if a patient has an SCS device to initiate this process.
