This policy covers the use of 1.5T and 3T MRI on patients with heart valves.

NHSL Policy: Patients with heart valves can be scanned at 1.5T. Patients referred for examinations that require 1st level mode (e.g. renal or peripheral angiogram) will have the conditions of their heart valves checked to ensure scanning is not off-label. If necessary, to perform MR scan off-label, a risk-benefit justification should be performed by a radiologist.
