Non-Cardiac Stents (NHSL)

This policy does not consider patients with cardiac stents for information on these implants, please follow this link. This policy considers the use of 1.5T and 3T MRI for patients with non-cardiac stents.

NHSL Policy: The NHSL Policy will be as per GGC Policy, which states: “For a patient with a stent or stents other than a cardiac stent, the make and model of the stent(s) must be established and the MRI conditions identified and reviewed. Based on whether or not the MRI conditions can be satisfied, a decision to perform the MRI scan can be made.”
